Reporting to the either the Campus Assistant Financial Aid Director or the Campus Financial Aid Director, the Senior Financial Aid Officer performs all functions of a Financial Aid Officer, plus the following additional tasks: serves as VA Certifying Official for campus, assists with training/mentoring of new Financial Aid Officers, reviews/batches private loan funds, assists Financial Aid Director in general or in the absence of the Assistance Financial Aid Director, reviews International student financial support documents and explains payment plan options, represents Financial Aid Office at campus Orientation or Open House events, as requested by Director, Financial Aid.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Serves as VA Certifying Official for campus, including monitoring eligibility status for students receiving military education benefits, timely update of enrollment and eligibility details in VA Once software, and responding to student questions or requests for information.
Assists with training/mentoring of new Financial Aid Officers through appointment observations, mentoring, and shadowing activities.
Assists the Assistant Director/Director with quality assurance review of financial aid files as assigned.
Assists Financial Aid Director in general or in the absence of the Assistant Financial Aid Director with general operations and management activities such as monitoring office appointment calendar, delegating activities, managing student (virtual/physical) traffic and generation/compilation of reports or data as requested by the Financial Aid Director.
Reviews pending private loan disbursements and batches, adjusts, or schedules refunds as appropriate, and documents actions in Campus Vue and ELM.
Reviews International student financial support documents and communicates completeness or deficiencies with students and admissions. Explains payment plan options to international students and responds to student questions or inquiries regarding tuition, fees, or payment processes.
Represents Financial Aid Office at campus Orientation, workshops, or open house events, as requested by the campus Financial Aid Director.
Adheres to College/University policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College/University’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and as required to meet the needs of the College/University and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.
Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.
Maintains order, cleanliness and safety at work.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
May not be in default on a federal student loan, or owe repayment of a federal grant.
Consent to audio and video record student financial aid appointments and overviews for training and quality assurance purposes required.
2-3 years of relevant experience required, with 1 year Financial Aid Experience at West Coast University preferred
