Vice President, Compliance & Risk Management

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working in concert with the school Presidents, the Vice President, Compliance and Risk Management is responsible for the organization’s compliance, risk management, internal controls and Title IX in support of a multi-faceted, multi-location academic and shared services office setting.  Overseeing the Compliance Office, manages and monitors internal and external risks associated with regulatory compliance on an enterprise basis.   Is responsible for leading an institution-wide compliance program that provides institutional insight for the management, accountability, and operational integrity of all departmental operations – academic and non-academic. Establishes regulatory compliance standards and procedures to prevent illegal, unethical and improper conduct; establishes internal auditing standards and processes to assess campus-wide risks and provides assurance that the risks are mitigated; and ensures these standards are communicated and institutionalized throughout the organization.  Attends the Board of Advisors meetings and reports on the results of the organization’s compliance and risk management efforts, provides guidance to the Board and Senior Management on compliance matters, and implements all necessary actions to create an effective enterprise compliance and risk management program.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor degree in business principles and practices, public administration or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in business principles and practices, public administration or related field preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Five to seven years experience in an academic or regional health care organization, in roles of increasing leadership responsibility at a corporate/divisional level or above for a multi-faceted, multi-location organization in areas of legal services, compliance management, regulatory agencies, audit, or related fields.
  • Three to five years of overall industry related experience in compliance administration with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted, multi-college/campus direction and planning.
  • Evidence of strong supervisory and managerial skills, including budgets, strategic planning, assessment and evaluation skills.
  • Experience with development and implementation of compliance programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of practices and principals of risk management.
  • Knowledge of the principles of supervision, administration, systems management and community organization as applicable to specialized program area. 
  • Experience with MS Office. 
  • Knowledge of applicable databases and computer application systems to supply the most accurate information, reports and projections.
  • Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Title IV, institutional and programmatic accreditation standards, state authorization requirements.
