Vice President, Corporate Controller

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP Finance & Accounting in a multi-faceted, multi-location academic and administrative shared services setting, the Corporate Controller is responsible for general accounting procedures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and all regulatory/governmental organizations appropriate within the education industry. Organizes and plans financial statement audit; develops, implements and monitors procedures to ensure proper internal controls. Additional accountabilities include overseeing and managing accounting operations for the organization to include: cash management, timely and accurate production of financial reports, managing accounting records, managing balance sheets on behalf of the schools and working with the VP Finance & Accounting and Chief Financial Officer in managing an environment of control.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Master's degree in accounting or finance preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CPA Required

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires broad knowledge and expertise in principles, practices, and theories across multiple professional disciplines.
  • Experience managing a team or leading projects, programs or functions is required.  

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior level accounting position with appropriate/ equivalent industry.
  • A minimum of 10 years overall experience in accounting/financial management with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted, multi-location direction and planning.
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in for-profit setting, internal accounting controls, taxation, investment, and treasury functions.
  • Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, specifically MAS and education/student accounting systems.
  • Experience with MS Office.
