The Department of Pharmacy Practice Chair, is responsible for development and placement of faculty at practice sites, in liaison with the Office of Experiential Education. The Chair is expected to teach in areas of his/her expertise; s/he will provide professional leadership and support for all faculty in the Department, including those without practice responsibilities; the Chair will serve as a mentor and enable an environment which fosters professionalism, a student centric approach, creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility. The Chair is expected to oversee workload distribution of faculty, mediate conflicts, establish annual performance objectives for faculty in the Department, and contribute to the academic administration of the School.
Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or PharmD) from an accredited college or university which includes substantial course work in pharmacy, a pharmaceutical discipline, education and/or administration required.
State of California:
Current California Registered Pharmacist License, Pharmacy Board License is preferred or other current professional licensure by state or national board if applicable
If employee does not have a current license, a valid California license to practice pharmacy is required within nine months from date of hire at employee’s own cost.
Must meet and maintain the qualifications and standards set forth by the California Board of Pharmacy.
Must meet and maintain the qualifications and standards set forth by any accreditation body that West Coast University is accredited by or in process of obtaining accreditation from, for area of expertise and expectations of faculty member as set forth in regulatory documents.
Must maintain any professional certifications deemed necessary to meet the requirements of the teaching role.
