SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Executive Director, with an indirect reporting relationship to the Dean, College of Nursing, is responsible for providing leadership in managing, planning, and implementing comprehensive pre- and post-licensure nursing programs (including graduate level programs) for delivery in support of University, campus, and/or departmental goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace and placement expectations.  Leads programmatic budget preparation and fiscal administration, student-learning outcomes and participates in curriculum assessment, coordination and improvement, determination of teaching assignments, supervision and evaluation of faculty, design and operation of program facilities, and selection/coordination of program specific external facilities and instruction.Provides professional leadership and support for teaching faculty; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment that fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.  If approved by the CA Board of Nursing as an Assistant Program Director, may be expected to assume program director responsibility for California campuses in the absence of the College Dean/Program Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provides leadership on planning, organizing, directing, and actively communicating information with the campus and senior university-wide leadership to ensure university guidelines and goals are applied consistently on the campus

Ensure processes are in place to track, monitor and record student completion and/or program outcomes.

In collaboration with the Campus Associate Directors of Academics, Administration, Clinical Education, and Registrar ensures didactic and clinical classes are scheduled.

Ensures consistent usage of the University’s master syllabus template.

Ensures consistent utilization of University Deans and Chairs Guide and Catalogfor operational effectiveness.

In collaboration with the campus Manager NCLEX Success monitors NCLEX scores and proactively creates, implements and communicates appropriate corrective action plans when outcomes do not meet institutional goals. 

Responsible for ensuring effective and efficient communication via e-mails, phone calls, returned messages addressing faculty and student concerns, faculty issues, student progress, educational vendors, clinical facilities, university issues and if indicated Board of Registered Nursing (e.g. Miami or Texas).

Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.

Functions as a member of the Academic Council, and provides updates to campus personnel on basis of Academic Council activities.  Responsible in conjunction with campus Executive Director for ensuring the University policies that have been approved and conveyed at the Academic Council are fully communicated and implemented at the campus.

Collaborates with Campus Associate Directors of Academics, Administration, Clinical Education, and Skills Laboratory Coordinator to ensure availability of supplies, classrooms, and staffing required for the academic instruction of the program.

Reviews and develops action plan based on student and faculty feedback for improvement of program

In collaboration with Talent Acquisition, monitors recruitment and on-boarding of program staff and faculty; to ensure retention, morale and performance efficiencies.

Monitors and analyzes student attrition and retention data and works with other campus leaders to develop initiatives that can be implemented to improve retention.

Provides direction, motivation, informational support, technical/professional guidance, and coaching to program personnel.

Assures student course evaluations are administered each term, and that the feedback is provided to faculty in a timely fashion. Collaborates with the Campus Associate Directors of Academics and Clinical Education to analyze Faculty Course Evaluations results, follows up as necessary on identified performance trends

Ensures all faculty and associate performance reviews are completed according to schedule.  Ensures frequent feedback on performance is provided by the appropriate supervisor.

Develops budgets, plans, and staffing requirements for the operation of the program and manages daily operations, staffing and expenses to remain within budget guidelines inn collaboration with the Campus Associate Directors.

Holds regular faculty meetings to provide for subject matter correlation and curriculum evaluation, and to coordinate activities of importance to full-time and adjunct faculty.

Participates as part of Campus Management Team and College Nursing Leadership Committee, partnering with colleagues to ensure positive student outcomes.

Works collaboratively with the Dean of the College of Nursing and Associate Dean of Nursing, to ensure consistency in programming across all WCU locations.

Adheres to College/University policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College/University’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.

Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and as required to meet the needs of the College/University and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.

Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments

Maintains order, cleanliness and safety at work.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Florida Board of Nursing Requirements:

Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university, which includes course work in nursing, education or administration, required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must hold an unencumbered current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Florida.
