SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management, the Maintenance Lead/Maintenance Mechanic II oversees, and when necessary, provides building repair and maintenance for the daily operation of our campus facilities. The Maintenance Lead/Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for the administration and management of the Facilities work order system, intra-building moves, adds, and/or changes, repair and preventative maintenance of various campus equipment and building systems, and inspection/audit of the buildings in accordance with all applicable safety, maintenance, and organizational policies, procedures, and best practices, develops, implements, and monitors departmental procedures and equipment to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. The Maintenance Lead/Maintenance Mechanic II is also responsible for supervising and assisting with the campus maintenance mechanic’s execution of requests for service including repairs, movement of materials, shipping and receiving, room setup and breakdown, general cleaning, and spills as needed.

Intermediate proficiency or equivalent experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Ability to type routine reports, correspondence and e-mails.

Strong customer orientation and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Excel and Word.

Ability create/understand formulas to compute rate, ratio, percentage and graphs.

Excellent time management skills and function well under pressure of deadlines and conflicting priorities.

Self-starter capable of operating with little daily supervision and the ability to escalate issues where appropriate.

Ability to manage and work effectively in a highly ethnic and culturally diverse student and associate community.

Ability to exercise good judgment.

Apply proper body mechanics and possess the ability to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Attention to details, highly organized and computer literate.

Ability to work well in a fast-paced and professional environment.

Able to function effectively in a customer service atmosphere.

Flexible to meet the demands of the department including travel and after-hours work.

Ability to drive/travel locally to respond to after-hours emergencies as requested.

Ability to work after hours/weekends during pre-scheduled overtime as needed.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

Requires developed skills through application of standards and processes within a narrow scope of work.

Typically requires 3-5 years of experience and additional vocational or technical education.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent; or two to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Clean and valid driver’s license required.

HVAC, Plumbing, Electrician, or equivalent certifications preferred.
