Responsibilities

As an ADN Nursing Faculty member for a certified Great Place to Work, you will guide nursing students to do more than change their own lives – you will help change the lives of every patient they treat throughout their career in healthcare. At American Career College you will have the opportunity to share your success story with the next generation of nurses as a key member of our student-centered, innovative community!

You will make an impact by: 

  • Serving as a mentor, role model and facilitator and provides guidance and academic support for students. Encouraging the student to use problem solving techniques.
  • Assuming complete responsibility for students in the clinical facilities and clarifying clinical expectations with students.
  • Clarifying student placement and expectations with clinical facility staff.
  • Utilizing care planning time to direct students to available resources needed for clinical preparation.
  • Assessing student knowledge and skill level to ensure safety and optimal care for patients.
  • Coordinating a plan to best instruct, observe, and evaluate students learning and clinical practical skills which includes direct clinical assessment of skills in applicable setting for related area of instruction.
  • Utilizing pre and post conference to allow students an opportunity to share learned experiences.
  • Correlating weekly theory content with clinical objectives and experiences.
  • Providing feedback of clinical performance immediately after observation of event and, of overall performance at mid-term and end of semester.
  • Recording and posting daily class attendance and grades as required, completing, and submitting assignments in a timely manner, and grades tests, quizzes, lab assignments promptly, returning constructive feedback to students as soon as possible. Engages in systematic collection of student’s work for college outcomes assessment purposes.
  • Assisting with program activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, accrediting bodies, and College policies and procedures in concert with other American Career College campus programs.
  • Participating in student success activities such as engaging in student academic performance feedback and/or establishing a point of contact for internal resource/access for student issues.
  • Assuring students are provided instructional support services within the subject area taught to maintain the highest level of student achievement while safeguarding the integrity of the educational process.

Your Experience Includes:

  • 3 years of occupational experience in the subject field or in a closely related field.

Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by:

  • one (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area.

OR

  • one (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.
  • Completion of at least one (1) years’ experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing.
  • Must demonstrate training in educational methods, testing and evaluation and evidence strength in instructional methodology, delivery and techniques as indicated by evaluation by supervisory personnel within 30 days of beginning instruction.

EDUCATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education which includes course work in nursing or in natural, behavioral, or social sciences relevance to nursing practice.
  • Master of Science in Nursing required for theory/didactic courses.
