Responsibilities

The Lab-Teaching Assistant assists faculty with lab sessions, grading assignments and tests. Responsible for performing teaching and teaching-related duties. Preparing labs for class and/or practicals, monitoring student progress and facilitating student participation in learning activities. The Lab/Teaching Assistant communicates with the lead instructor regarding student performance or issues that arise and ensures the delivery of consistent content and testing. The Lab-Teaching assistant may assist with grading practicals and other required assignments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assist course coordinator with lab set-up, leave the classroom or laboratory clean organized and ready for next user.
- Evaluate and grade examinations, assignments, or papers and record grades. Evaluate student work.
- Conduct and grade practicals.
- Participate in applicant interviews.
- Work with the instructor to coordinate final grades for all students on the class roster.
- Obtain materials needed for class.
- Prepare presentations for and deliver lectures.
- Tutor or mentor students.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Certifications, and Licensures
- A master of Science in Occupational Therapy is required.
- Certified by NBCOT (The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) as an OTR (Registered Occupational Therapist) required.
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California is required.
- Membership with the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC) is required.
- Membership with the American Occupational Therapy Association is required.
